I am the Creative Technologies Librarian and Director of the Adobe Studio & Makerspace at Clemson University Libraries.

In my role, I teach, support, and collaborate on creative digital and hands-on projects. I previously worked at Virginia Commonwealth University’s Cabell Library on a small team that manages The Workshop, a high-tech creative center for students, faculty and staff at VCU.

Adobe Studio 2.0

In 2018, I was hired as the first faculty director of the Adobe Digital Studio (as it was known at the time). The Adobe Studio was started in 2014, with the original Creative Campus partnership with Adobe, which gives all Clemson students, faculty, and staff access to the Adobe Creative Cloud. In 2021, with the generous support of Adobe, Inc, we launched the Adobe Studio 2.0 renovation project. For the Adobe Studio 2.0, I developed and carried out plans to revitalize the Studio and turn it into Clemson’s hub for digital and hands-on creative projects. This meant bringing in makerspace equipment to bring our designs to life, including a sticker printer, fabric printer, embroidery machine, and 20+ 3D printers. I also converted the one button video studio into a comprehensive production space, with a high-end but accessible video set-up, photography studio, and VR experience area. I also added areas for hands-on making and collaborative projects, as well as creative showcases.

Association of Creative Technologies in Academic Libraries

I am a co-founder of the Association of Creative Technologies in Academic Libraries (ACTAL). As an organization, we are focused on folks working in multimedia labs, makerspaces, visualization and VR/AR/MR spaces in libraries, and providing community for questions around teaching, space management, supervision, and creative projects. We hold an annual conference and other opportunities to meet.
